Happy New Year (and Halloween, and Thanksgiving and Christmas)

Yes, I am hanging my head in shame over the fact that it has been nearly 3 months since my last post.  I really have no excuse, I mean other than having triplets and all!  I realize that it has all become so normal and routine to me...the novelty of being the parent of triplets has started to wear off.  But, as 2011 has come to a close (and what a year it has been) and the babies are quickly approaching 1 year old, I am starting to become a little nostalgic that our year of "firsts" is almost over.  We have had our first Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.  We have had our first teeth (except Ava, the toothless wonder), our first time pulling up, first time sitting on Santa's lap, first time trick-or-treating... the list is endless.  While I know that this is just the beginning of all the things they will accomplish in life, I am sad that my babies are quickly turning into toddlers.

I can't even begin to think of all of things that I should have posted in the past few months...but here are the current highlights.  All 3 babies are sitting, crawling and pulling up.  I mean, these girls are seriously mobile now!  Our playroom has been opened up to the living room so that they can have more room to go back and forth between the two areas for plenty of opportunity to practice their speed crawling.  Ava actually stands by herself now without pulling up or holding onto anything.  They cruise along the furniture, but no first steps quite yet.  No one likes to be confined anymore.  Exersaucers, walkers and bouncers are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Teething babies has become the norm over the past few months.  Lia is working on her 7th tooth and Mya is cutting her 8th.  And then, there is Ava.  At 11 months old, we are still awaiting her first tooth.  I think she is trying to beat her Uncle Matt's record of 14 months old.  This has in no way deterred her from eating everything her sisters eat.  The girls are down to 3 bottles a day.  One when they wake up, one at bedtime and one right before their afternoon nap.  They also do 3 meals of solid food a day.  So far, they like pretty much everything.  It is my goal to raise 3 little foodies who will eat anything.  I have raised two of the pickiest eaters in Simone and Noa, so I really hope that I do a better job this time around in that department. I am not exaggerating at all.  Last weekend, we went to a family reunion brunch.  Simone ate a biscuit, a piece of ham and cookies.  Noa just ate cookies.  The babies, however, ate pretty much everything on the menu...ham, pork, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, fruit salad, etc.  Hopefully their good eating habits continue!

The girls have become much more social with each other.  There is nothing better than to be in the kitchen and here them laughing at each other in the next room.  I often here them babbling back and forth in their cribs before and after naps.  They have started to pass toys and pacifiers back and forth between cribs as well.  I first noticed this when I found pacifiers in Mya's crib, even though she is the only one who doesn't use one.  Of course, the flip side of this is the screaming when one of the girls takes something from the other, or crawls over top of someone who is in their way.  I'm sure that this love/hate relationship will continue for many years to come...hopefully a lot heavier on the loving side!

It has become next to impossible lately to get a good picture of all three girls together...but here is a little photo gallery of the past 3 months.  Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  The countdown is on for the big 1st birthday!
